The Road to both mental and spiritual maturity. The Right of passage.

Everyone knows what being a "mature person" means. At least on a superficial level everyone seems to understand the concept.

Most likely the idea that comes to mind is that of a stoic, well-mannered, independent, wise person. While yes, some of those components are the traits of a grounded individual.

A person's maturity is a much deeper & complex subject. There's 2 books I love using to give an overview of this subject. The first is called "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover" by Robert Moore & Douglas Gillete. While the audience for the book is predominately male, I believe women would benefit greatly from reading it.

My interpretation for the book is the following.

The book explains the different archetypes that make up a kingdom. The kingdom in this case is you, the different hats you need in order to be a well rounded individual.

Let me go through them, you have;

  • The King: This archetype is responsible for overseeing and organizing the kingdom. He provides direction as to where the next step is. You can see him as the one channeling the river. The way this archetype manifests itself in our lives is by; Boundaries, Leadership, Discipline, Strategy, Decisions to reward or punish, Ambition, Organization.
The principal Egyptian gods Ra & Horus where both depicted as falcons, one being the sun god. The other representing the bloodline of the pharaohs, the kings of Egypt. Their symbols? Parallel eyes. Both meant to depict the king's responsibility to overview his kingdom.

  • The Warrior: He is the enforcer, the protector, the conqueror, the fire. He carries out the expansion and protection of the empire. You can also se him as the fire, the fire the king wields and channels. He looks behind himself to protect, he looks to what's in front of him & goes through it. You can also see him as the fire. the fire the king wields and channels. He is mainly manifested as; Aggression, Bravery, Expansive energy, , Domination, Peerless.
Verbs such as " Wanting, "Getting", "Pursuing", "Achieving" & "Desire". Are attributed to this archetype.

  • The Magician: The creator and seeker. He sparks, provides foresight & makes sense of the world around him. He seeks & looks beyond. This is manifested as: Curiosity, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding.
Depicted in mainstream movies as Dumbledore, Gandalf, & Merlin as they provide wisdom, foresight, & imagination.
  • The Lover: This one focuses on the senses: physically, mentally & spiritally. An experience of beauty and magnificence. He seeks to connect to the world around him. He appreciates the seconds. He is manifested through; Aliveness, Love, Appreciation, Intuition, Passion, excitement, Adrenaline rushes.

The lover is in tuned with his sensory systems, which in term allows him to be intuned with other and the world around him.. He understands & loves himself. Therefore he can do the same with others.

This is an overview, more so the characteristics of a well rounded, fully integrated person.

As for the second book, I highly suggest is "The way of the superior man" by David Deida. Its probably more or less what you imagine, A guide for men to become King Arthur & a guide for wome to handle or date men like Ghengis Khan. This is book is fascinating as it speaks about our inherent energies as humans. The masculine & femenine, more so the balance we need in our lives between both.  I won't go deep into the full spectrums of the book, as I believe that I will not do it justice. But rather stick to the essential part that serves this article.

That part being the inherent energies of both men & women.

You see as a man your primordial energy is that of fuck, hunt & kill. While on the other hand the woman's primordial energy is that of care, nurturing receiving. The yin & yang. Inut & output. But before a SJW with too much free time gets triggered, keep in mind the word "Inherent" & "Primordial"

You see in order for us to become a fully integrated, well balanced & rounded individuals we need a certain balance of both energies in our life. Not necessarily a 50/50. More so a 60/40 depending on your nature.

See it this way, Masculine energy is fire, Feminine energy is water. The water contains the fire to it serves it's intended purposes, no water and the fire burns down the forest. Too much water and you drown the soil with soyness.

This is an overview of how both energies in their mature & healthy ways should be manifested.

Masculine energy;

  • Purpose driven
  • Direct
  • Grounded
  • Penetrative (cut through the bullshit.)
  • Secure in self
  • Structured
  • Supportive
  • Holds deep integrity
  • Free
  • Order
  • Honors the feminine & lets it manifest itself.
  • Trying to empty
  • Certain
  • Stimulated by challenges
  • Makes big things, small
  • Leaves, let's go, forgets
Feminine energy;
  • Guided by love
  • Surrendered
  • Receptive
  • Flows
  • Trusting
  • Intuitive
  • Nurturing
  • Expressive
  • Chaos
  • Authentic vulnerability
  • Trying to fill up
  • Stimulated by praise
  • Gathers
  • Makes small things big

Ever noticed that the best relationships, happen whe you are both grounded in your energies? Being grounde in yourself creates trust, which in term allows each other to express yourselves freely. This is a big part of chemistry.

Or when dudes, are dating a women whose a ballbuster and women dating men who are wimps. they normally end up resenting each other.

Also noticed when men are too much on the feminine, or women too much in the masculine. How they seem to be unhappy af with themselves? That's because they are not living in themselves.

Now, I didn't go into full detail. as to there are also shadow aspects and wounded aspects of the archetypes & the energies. So i truly suggest reading both books, but as long as you undertand these concepts and follow/work on these guidelines. You are good to go.

But,  development or say the maturity of one self, is in the consistent improvement of each of these archetypes & energies in our lives. While it is important to cultivate and improve all four & being true to your full self. Depending on you & your lifestyle, you may be more inclined to some more than others. Just be aware of them & how important it is to maintain a balance.

Now more so important this is a path/ journey you go through. Your own heroes journey so to speak, a journey back to self. This is a path you must choose & follow. Ancient civilization and even tribes today instructed their young into a right of passage, in which by completion they would become men. A serious of challenges meant to simulate the real world they would one day live in and hopefully conquer. A trial by fire, a test of character so to speak.

The main component of this method or better say initiation is the aspect of challenge. To earn your rightful place in the world through selective moments of hardship. Haven't you noticed that after a hard workout or upon achieving something you feel amazing? That's because you just gave your body a shot of dopamine. To earn is the greatest gift you could receive.

So earn your place in this world.

By entering into the world of self-development, you embark into the journey to become your true self. Expand yourself, your character, your life, your business, your empire, your influence.

Past kings look from the stars, make them proud.

Big Love.

- A

As a side note: At the end of the day, when it's all said and done. Remember maturity is merely a process. Not a goal nor finish line. Consistent movement and development is a part of life and human nature. The choices you make in your life will define if that is either evolving or decaying. So make wonders out of the moments that have been given to you.
