Core Values the pillars of greatness.

It may sound cliche.Yet having a system or a list of values will redirect your life for the better. Here’s why;

First, It gives your Self-esteem & Confidence a solid standing stone: we all know that self-esteem is the relationship you have with yourself. Imagine you split into 2 different people. The relationship you have with said self is basically your self-esteem. Do you feel admiration for that person? Do you like him or her? Do you feel proud of him or her? Or do you hate him/her? shame?

You get the point.

When you stand by your values or “code” you get a sense of pride and achievement in yourself. Not in external factors that change constantly. You can’t control if you boss gives you a promotion. You do however have absolute control of how many push ups you do.

Second, it gives you a sense of direction and purpose

When you stand by your values, you tend to attract certain types of people, behaviors, situations and tend to alienate others. This gives you the opportunity to focus your attention and energy on the things that really matter to you and your purpose.

Third, it\"s a character trait that most leaders and high-status people have:

I bet you have seen Braveheart or at least, heard of it. Well in case you haven’t seen it yet.

Spoilers.

England captured William Wallace the leader of the revolution in Scotland, they offered him his freedom and his life in exchange for him to bend the knee to England. Yet, when his head was in the chopping block, and the headman’s axe was above his head. Everyone plead him to surrender, even his own men that were so fiercely faithful to him didnt want to see their leader’s head chopped off. Everyone in the crowd yelled for mercy. But in his raspy, dying breath. William as loud as he could yelled for freedom, among all the mercy pleads. Everyone gasped in shocked as this man on the brink of his death, stood firm on his values.

Now William Wallace is the Chuck Norris of Scotland.

Many times in our lives we have been told or influenced to compromise on our values, that it would be better for us, more easy in the short-term. Let me tell you something. There’s no higher cost than betraying yourself and what you believe in. When the world tell you to compromise plant your feet on the ground and stay firm. The world is ever changing. Yet the men & women who dare to stand against the tide & leave their footprints on the path of greatness, will be remembered for all time.

Make a list of things you want in your life. It can be health, wealth, love, etc.. Something that resonates with your soul and gut when you think of them. Something your future self will thank you for. I’ll give you my some of my core values as an example:

  • Loyalty (I’m fiercely loyal to myself and those around me)
  • Passion (That everything I do, sparks a fire in my chest. I give my everything at anything I do. There is only 100%, never 50.)
  • Vision or Ambition (Having a grandiose vision of my life and working relentlessly to achieve it. My future need bright colors in it.)
  • Stoicism (Being in control of my body, thoughts & feelings.)
  • Integrity (Doing shit the right way)
  • Expansion/Growth (This can be on my persona, growing as a person, my influence in the world, etc.., always getting bigger, always getting better)
  • Going down swinging ( I might get dropped in the cage, the ring or in life. But never without taking something from the other person.)

This can change as you grow and experience the world. The thing is that as long as you have them, stand by them and they shall be the pillars of your life.

Everything that lasts need solid foundations.

Big Love. -A
